Stem cells are a very hot topic right now, and so I’ll try to break it down into the most basic terms that I can.

What are Stem Cells?

A stem cell defines a cell that is, “undifferentiated.” It means a cell that has not gone on to become a mature cell yet.

These cells are very valuable to clinicians because they’re used to create mature tissue and can be leveraged to treat diseases or injuries by taking stem cells and putting them in an area of injury and causing mature cells to differentiate or, in more simpler terms, causing tissue to heal.
