Rotator cuff tears are extremely common.

If a shoulder injury is not responding to common sense treatment options after the first few weeks, I think it’s a great time to see a sports medicine doctor.

Most often patients with rotator cuff strains come into my office for an initial evaluation. We do an exam, possibly basic x-rays, and sometimes an MRI.

Most rotator cuff tears can be treated with conservative options like physical therapy, injections, or regenerative medicine treatments such as PRP or Stem Cell therapy.

While the majority of rotator cuff tears do not require surgical treatment, for the ones that do require surgical treatment, these patients typically do better if they’re treated earlier rather than later.

I encourage anybody with lingering shoulder pain, or suffered a shoulder injury to see a doctor after a few weeks if things are not really going in the right direction.
